If you have a surfer you’re trying to think of gifts to buy for Christmas, here you go:
Surf wax. This is a great stocking stuffer and it’s cheap.
A top of the line surfboard leash. Just go into a surf shop and ask them to help you pick out a really good leash. You’ll want to know how long your surfer’s favorite board is, or at least how tall the surfer is. Shouldn’t be too difficult; a decent guess will do.
A new surfboard. This is the king of gifts for surfers. Find out how long their favorite surfboard is and get them one that’s about the same length and looks awesome. Cool designs and art on a surfboard go a long way toward making us happy.
A new wet suit. Kids outgrow their wet suits, and most adults tend to outgrow theirs as well, if only horizontally. Plus, wet suits get holes in them and need to be replaced.
New sunglasses. Maui Jims are superb.
More board shorts. No one wants to wear the same board shorts every time they surf, so it’s nice to have about 10 pairs. Get them 1 or 2. You can buy them more for Valentine’s.
For Christmas, surf-styled stockings and tree ornaments are really fun and we do like them.
The newest surf DVD. This year it’s Rob Mochado’s DVD, “The Drifter”. Buy it from Amazon or a local surf shop.
And finally, if they’re under 18 years old, don’t buy them clothes for Christmas. You have all year to buy them Hurley, Billabong, and Quicksilver shirts. The only exception to this would be a totally awesome, can’t be beat, HOODIE.
